Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates it. That provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not keep or log those search terms on our own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
When you email us, we retain the message as needed to respond. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers automatically receive basic technical information when a page loads:
- The date and time of each page view
- The pages viewed and the time spent on them
- Your device type and operating system
- Your browser type and version
- The referring site, when one is available
- The internet protocol address used by your device
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. This site and its analytics services use them to measure traffic in aggregate, such as which pages receive visits and when users leave. You may block cookies through your browser settings, though doing so can change how parts of the site function.
What We Do With This Data
- Routing a search request to the selected partner service
- Maintaining reliable site operation and page speed
- Finding and correcting technical faults
- Measuring which pages are useful to visitors
- Displaying advertising that may reflect user interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Val Verde County Criminal History does not keep, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to custodians such as the Val Verde County Sheriff, the District Clerk, the County Clerk, Del Rio Police, Texas DPS, and the Texas Public Sex Offender Registry. Texas Government Code Chapter 411 controls access to and dissemination of criminal-history record information held by DPS. Nothing collected about a visitor is assembled here as a consumer report or as a file about another person, and this site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes displayed on this site. A partner's own privacy policy governs information entered in its tool. We do not set that company's retention or sharing rules, so review its policy before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Val Verde County offices, Del Rio departments, Texas DPS, courts, legal-aid resources, or outside search services. Once you leave this site, the destination's privacy policy applies. Read its terms before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may also track activity across websites to select ads. Any such tracking takes place through the provider's systems rather than a criminal-record database maintained here.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Data may be disclosed to:
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
- Search partners that process a query submitted through their tool
- Advertising networks that serve ads on these pages
- A government body or law-enforcement agency when valid legal process requires disclosure
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable security practices are used to protect information in our control. No internet-connected system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access or a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This website is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such data, we will delete it.
Your Data Rights
Rights may differ based on where you live. The Texas Public Information Act, Government Code Chapter 552, governs access to records held by Texas governmental bodies rather than data held by this private site. Texas Government Code Chapter 411 separately limits dissemination of criminal-history record information. Regardless of those public-record rules, you may ask us to:
- Provide a copy of personal information held about you
- Correct inaccurate personal information
- Delete personal information where applicable
- Stop certain forms of data processing where applicable
Updates to This Policy
This privacy policy may be revised. A changed version becomes available on this page with its updated effective date, so review it periodically for current practices.
